2018 Reading List

I’ve noticed that I’m stuck in a routine: I get home from work, make dinner, watch TV with my husband, clean the kitchen, watch more TV and go to bed. (I’m going to blame part of this endless TV cycle on how addicting The Food Network and HGTV are). I’ve also noticed lately that I have a habit of buying books and never reading them, due partly to the never-ending TV cycle.

Therefore, I’ve decided to kill two birds with one stone and create a reading list for the rest of 2018! I’ve given myself a list of 11 books to finish before December 31st, 2018. This list is a bit all over the place, but what’s the fun in reading only one type of book? I got this post idea from the lovely Adrienne over at A Cozy Northern Life, you can find her blog post here!

#1. Presence by Amy Cuddy

#2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

There is a small story that explains why I am reading a Harry Potter book this year (hopefully I will actually read more than one).  When I was younger I read all the way up to book five before losing interest (please don’t kill me Potter nerds). My husband has read all the books multiple times and loves the movies. However, I refuse to watch the movies (past #5) until I have read the books first. So, since my husband wants to watch all the movies, I’m starting the series over again with the intent of finishing it!

#3. Why Not Me by Mindy Kaling

#4. The Wealthy Barber Returns by David Chilton

To be totally honest I bought this book because my dad told me to read it a few years ago (Hi Dad!)

#5. The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel

#6. The Art of War by Sun Tzu

#7. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

#8. The Voodoo Killings by Kristi Charish

#9. Unfu*k Yourself by Gary John Bishop

#10. Postcards from the Heart by Ella Griffin

Instead of watching a “chick-flick” on Netflix, I’m going to try to read one!

#11. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry By Neil DeGrasse Tyson

What books are you looking forward to reading this year? Have you read any of the books on my list? What did you think of them? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Thanks for the shout out girl!! 🙂
I’m so glad my post inspired you to do the same and create a reading list for the year!

Your list looks awesome! I think some of these might have to be added to my additional/recommendation list! Thanks for the suggestions.
